Chronic Illness Programs
MyEXM, in consultation with health care providers, develops and administers program which achieve patient participation in regular physical activity. A central goal of MyEXM is to enable more individuals to be physically active and to enhance their functional capacity.
Typically, many people who have a chronic disease or disability enter a downward pattern toward exercise intolerance. The exercise intervention programs by MyEXM are designed to resist this pattern and optimize functional capacity.
Within any given population, there is a wide range of abilities. They are determined by several factors e.g.: progression of the disease, response to treatment, and presence of other concomitant illnesses. Expected outcomes of exercise training are not always known.
Realistically, optimal exercise and medical programming may yield improvements or merely prevent further deterioration. It is MyEXM's mission that optimal management of a custom-made exercise program will bring the individual greater independence and improved quality of life.
Of course, exercise programming must be regularly updated and adapted to the individual's clinical state. The prescription may change depending on the needs of the person, the progression/stabilization of the condition, or the therapy.
MyEXM aspires to appropriate exercise management for the individual, including the astute clinical judgment of MyEXM conferring with health providers, and leading to successful exercise programs.
